It is an ever changing career because of technology advancements as well as the mutations of disease. My career has been completed by RIVEROAK because I can pass on my passion for the lab to students looking for a career or to those students trying to decide if healthcare is the right fit for them.” For current and potential students, Shari shared the following advice: “Enroll! Take one class or take many! The opportunities that are being offered right here in our community without having to move away or travel daily is priceless. Take my class, for example. In six months, you can develop a skill and career, become nationally certified, and apply for work in that career in 46 states including travel jobs with medical agencies.” Shari added the following words of wisdom for anyone considering RIVEROAK for their postsecondary education: “The education we offer is not easy by any means because we demand excellence to make you competitive and competent for the workforce, but we love our jobs as educators, and we will make your time spent here the most enjoyable, rewarding, and challenging experience of your life.” #GrowYourFutureWithUs #GrowWithUs #CTEWorks #GetThereFl #FlTechColleges #FloridaTechnicalColleges #EarnaCareerinaYearFl #EarnaCareerinaYear #preparingaskilledworkforce #YourWay #YourWayFL #WeGrowFuturesHere #WeGrowFutures

Congratulations to this week's Alumni Spotlight, Jhalil Johnson! His former Electrical instructor, Jeremy Ulmer, shared why he is an outstanding alumnus: "I selected Jhalil, owner of Velocity Motorsports in Valdosta GA, as my student spotlight because I feel he exemplifies what technical colleges have to offer and the success that can be achieved through our programs. He took the tools that he learned and has applied them to both success as a businessman and a big social media following. Jhalil is a great example of the success that can be achieved by taking the technical college route." When asked why he selected RIVEROAK for his postsecondary instruction, Jahlil shared, "I selected RIVEROAK honestly because it was nearby. I went to Suwannee High School, so I was already familiar with the college. I wanted to do something more with my life than stock shelves at the grocery store, so I picked a program that peaked my interest the most, Electrical. I always tinkered with things when I was younger; I loved taking things apart to learn how they work. I found more interest in the electric workings than the mechanical workings. This made the electrical program an easy choice for me." As a RIVEROAK alumnus, Jahlil is now a successful business owner. He shared, "Originally, my plans were to become an electrical apprentice and eventually become a full-time electrician; however, the program opened more doors than I could’ve imagined. I didn’t just learn how to wire a light switch or an outlet. I learned how to build circuit boards, program CNC machines, and so much more. Mr. Ulmer got me a job in telecommunications while I was still in the program. I climbed the ladder quickly and was making good money building video servers, installing computer networks, security cameras, access control, and more. I left that career on good terms to start my own business. I now build high performance Mustangs, but still use the knowledge I’ve gained from this program in each build to this day. I am thankful for my time at RIVEROAK and would do it again." We are proud of you, Jahlil! #GrowYourFutureWithUs #GrowWithUs #CTEWorks #GetThereFl #FlTechColleges #FloridaTechnicalColleges #EarnaCareerinaYearFl #EarnaCareerinaYear #preparingaskilledworkforce #YourWay #YourWayFL #WeGrowFuturesHere #WeGrowFutures #alumni #graduate
